The Problem

No matter the role that creativity plays in your life, there will always be outside distractions. Nearly 60% of the world’s population are social media users (that’s 4.62 BILLION people!). Unfortunately, mindless technology use can destroy creativity. The temptation to scroll through TikTok or Facebook affects people of all ages. Photographers feel obligated to post on Instagram, even if they don’t fully understand the platform. Students get swept away by TikTok instead of developing their latest essay thesis. If your mind is always occupied by technology, when do you have time to be creative or inspired?

bloombox initiative

In response to a disconnected population heavily dependent on technology, we present bloombox Initiative. Focusing on London and Toronto, bloombox will distribute dropboxes inside public libraries. Placed in community-driven spaces, library-goers can easily submit their creative work to bloombox. Whether it be photos, poems or recipes, people can use the free resources available to them to create or print work, either anonymously or with contact information. The contents of the dropboxes in each city library will be collected, digitized then randomly generated for users to access on our freely available website.
